Simon’s Cross

Happy Monday people!

This morning my focus is on a man who played an often overlooked but pivotal role in the crucifixion story.

Simon of Cyrene a Gentile convert was passing through Jerusalem, when he came upon the unfolding bloody spectacle; bleeding Jesus buckling under the weight of His cross. Suddenly! Simon was seized from the crowd and forced to carry the heavy cross uphill behind Jesus.

Simon just happened to be in the crowd on that day. The cross was forced on him, he did not have a choice!

On reflection, the crosses we bear in life are not ones that we chose, like Simon they were thrust on us suddenly often without warning!

“…..take up your cross daily, and follow me.” Luke 9:23

Life happens, but like Simon as we follow Jesus we too will find purpose in our pain.

How heavy is your cross?

Good morning.

    1. What a wonderful way to be inspired on a Monday morning. Good work and may the good Lord continue to use you as an avenue to win back ailing souls.
