Happy Monday People!

It’s SALE season again! How do you shop? I hate fitting rooms so I pick out all the items I like, try them on at home, choose the ones that fit and return the rest to the store.

I wish making life’s choices was that simple!

Our choice of spouse, career, employment, or even the school for our children, can have serious implications for the future and should never be taken lightly.

A certain man Elimelech during a severe famine, chose to leave Bethlehem the land of bread and relocate with his family to Moab. That choice though logical at the time, had tragic consequences. (Ruth 1:1-5)

Remember, Eve chose to eat the apple! ……Choose wisely!

Have a great week!

Where’s Your Scarlet Cord?

Monday Morning Coffee©

Happy Monday people!

Over the weekend our women’s group-Dinner with Jesus held our quarterly Mix and Mingle evening, with the theme ‘The Scarlet Cord’.

This is the story of the harlot Rehab, one of the heroines of faith and a woman most of us identify with. –

-(Joshua 2)

Rehab puts her trust in the God of the Israelites, an enemy nation, she opened her home to the spies, and hid them on her roof.

Rehab struck a deal with these strangers, and on the day of Jericho’s destruction she left the scarlet cord dangling from her window, saving herself and her family.

The scarlet cord represents the blood of Jesus, it is a symbol of our faith in God. It marks us out as sinners saved by grace! It is proof that God can and will, save anyone who comes to Him by faith.

If God were passing by your house today, will He see the scarlet cord?

Picture Perfect….Really?

Happy Monday people!

At the weekend I watched someone spend almost an hour trying to take the perfect selfie to post on Facebook!

We all know that all we see on social media is so far from the truth.

On a more serious note, if we could take a selfie of the condition of our hearts will we be bold enough to post this on Facebook?

One day we will stand before our maker and watch the largest Facebook page in the universe, with every aspect of our lives on show for all to see!

….For God will bring every act into judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil. Ecclesiastes 12:14

I cringe in my boots  as I contemplate what the world will see! …..How many ‘likes’ will we get?

Happy reflection!

This time the answer is ‘No’!

Monday Morning Coffee©
Happy Monday people!

Anyone who has children will agree that the word “No” does not exist in their dictionaries. They expect to get everything they ask for. Talk about a sense of entitlement!

We are like that with God too, we also throw tantrums when we don’t get our own way.

Today I bring hope and encouragement  to all who are being tested and tried in the fiery furnace, pleading with God to answer the agonizing cries of their hearts. Let’s not throw our toys out of the pram yet!

” Our light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory.” 2 Cor. 4:17–18

We are not alone; Joseph, Daniel, Hannah and even Jesus walked this dark path too.

God’s provision may not look like what we want, but it is always what is best.

God answers every prayer…..And sometimes the answer is “No”!

Will we pass this test of faith?

Still Waiting?

Monday Morning Coffee©
Happy Monday people!

My post today is dedicated to all who have made it to the halfway point of 2017 and yet are still waiting. You are not alone!

Are you in the midst of a trial? Keep praying till the fight turns! Remember Hannah.

Does that dream seem even further away? Remember Joseph.

Have you toiled all night and yet caught nothing? Remember Peter.

I waited patiently for the Lord and He heard my cry …..Ps 40:1

Don’t leave that bus stop!…..God never comes late for those who wait!

Happy July!

Hold Tight!

Monday Morning Coffee©

Happy Monday people!
The terrible events of the past few weeks are all brutal reminders that in a world where we think we are in control of our lives and destinies, that control can be taken away in an instant.

Most of us have been left with a feeling of helplessness and asking, “Where are you Lord?”

This morning listen out for that still small voice that says, “I am still here, I am in control and I’ve got your back.”

Prophet Habakuk was living in a time like ours, a time when all that could fail had failed, yet he had an unwavering faith in the God that never fails.

So like Habakuk, let us hold on tight, confident that the One who holds the world in His hands has our backs!

The List

Monday Morning Coffee ©Happy Monday people!

On 15 April 1912 RMS Titanic sank on her maiden voyage to New York. 1500 souls were lost. The next morning a list of the saved and the lost was posted.

Last Tuesday, several families had settled in for the night at the Grenfell Tower, then suddenly the unthinkable happened!

For most it was their last night, others escaped within an inch of their lives. Hopes dashed, lives changed forever.

This post is dedicated to them.

Amidst  the current socio-political  discourse, it is poignant to see that a list of the saved and lost has again been posted.

When the Lord returns and the books are opened, where will your names be?

Live ready!
