Happy Monday people!
Grab your hot coffee! …Let’s reflect! Weddings postponed, jobs lost, contracts on hold etc. Has this pandemic blown your best laid out plans out of sync?….You are not alone!

Mary was set to marry, her childhood sweetheart, wedding invites had been sent out and it was now public knowledge. Suddenly God changed the plans and Mary was now to birth a child out of wedlock! Her reputation was at stake! What would people say? How would she explain this?

God will oftentimes rain on our parade because He wants to parade His own glory. Mary submitted herself to God’s will and we should also do the same

“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled. (Luke 1:38)

Remember! God has no bad weather, even the thunderstorms (and pandemics) serve His purpose!

Sometimes our brollies’ need to come out on Parade Day…..Let it rain Lord!

O Lord You hold the whole world in Your hands. I humbly submit my plans to you, interrupt them as and when You see fit in a way that Your name is glorified, and help me to be thankful.

Small is enough!

Monday Morning Coffee©

Happy Monday people!
Isn’t it strange that the key to our miracle is often hidden in plain sight; in the small stuff, the things we take for granted? My friend Lola always talks about appreciating pockets of happiness!

After a major victory on Mount Carmel Elijah expected to find God in the fire and earthquake, but He came in a still small voice.

A certain widow’s sons were to be sold off to pay a debt their father a prophet owed. This widow had a combination of small stuff; a small jar of oil, a few empty vessels and good neighbours. A combination that turned her into a wealthy oil merchant!

It was also a small boys lunch that fed the multitude. Look at the small stuff around you too, you will need them one day.

Small is enough!….You only need mustard seed faith to move huge mountains!

Prayer for the Week
Lord throughout this week help me see you in the things and people that I take for granted. Give me the courage to rebuild broken relationships and may I never despise the little I have because You are in it.

Name Your Hurricane

Monday Morning Coffee©️

Happy Monday good people! I have often wondered how and why hurricanes are given their names.

This morning let’s remember Jonah; the only man known to have been swallowed by a fish and live to tell the tale! Jonah was running from God’s will; as a matter of fact running in the opposite direction, so God sent ‘Hurricane Jonah’ to hunt him down! God caused also Jonah to be swallowed by a big fish that vomited him onto the shores of Nineveh; the same city he was running away from!….God sure has a sense of humour.

Often God sends a storm to get our attention and lead us to a place where we are ready to do his will.

Yesterday at church we were told to pause and listen to what God is saying.

Perhaps that storm raging in your life right now is a hurricane with your own name on it!….Time to pause, reset then go!

Good morning!

No Free Benefits!

Monday Morning Coffee©️

Happy Monday people!
I was once told the story of a young man who had started what his family thought was his dream job, and after his first day at work he told his parents that the job was boring! I bet we all know young people who have changed jobs in quick succession for similar reasons.

Today we are raising a generation of entitled young people who want the dream house and dream car but are not prepared to put the work in. These are young people who want the prize but not the process and success without committment.

However we should all take a good look in the mirror, because the apple does not fall far from the tree! Sadly we are the generation that is so preoccupied with our selfish desires and unable to mentor, teach or nurture the young people around us, and yet expect them to succeed.

‘Laziness casts into a deep sleep,
And an idle man will suffer hunger.’
(Proverbs 19:15)

…..Benefits are not free, they come with responsibilities!

The Finisher

Happy Monday people!
Do you have unfinished business or ‘to dos’ that you keep putting off? This can leave you anxious and out of kilter. There is a certain joy that comes with finishing.

One of the most compelling stories of the 2016 Olympics was about 41 year old Kuniaki Takizaki, the Cambodian marathoner who came second to the last. The joy on Kuniaki’s face as he crossed the finish line brought tears to many as the crowd ecstatically cheered him on.

Though he had no medal, Kuniaki was celebrating because he had run the race of his life and had finished it!

On the scoreboard there were names with the letters DNF – (Did Not Finish) next to them….the dropouts!

Paul said “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” (2Tim 4:7)

The greatest race is on people!….Be a finisher!….Your crown awaits!!

Lessons From a Layover

Monday Morning Coffee©️

Happy Monday people!

How are you holding up in the lockdown? Perhaps one can compare this lockdown to a long layover between flights, when you are stuck at the airport and don’t know what to do with your time.

The Israelites also had a layover between Egypt and Canaan. It was a time of testing, learning some life lessons and getting rid of old habits. They were slow learners so their layover lasted forty years!

Today we have also learnt some valuable lessons. We have been able reappraise our priorities. We all realise that faith and family are important in a crisis and not money or fame! And we don’t need all those clothes and shoes! We don’t need those long boring face to face meetings…..Zoom, Skype or an email will do just fine! And when we awake to see a new day still breathing normally, it is a miracle!

Life may appear stationary now, but we are being prepared for our next level.

Every layover has a purpose!…Find yours!

Good morning.

Just in Time

Monday Morning Coffee©

Happy Monday people!

As you sip your hot coffee this morning, please reflect on this season of mercy!

No story is more poignant than that of the lucky robber who recognised his need for mercy as he hung next to Jesus at the cross. It is funny to imagine that robber being one of the first to make it through the pearly gates!

I can only imagine the shock on the faces of the victims of his reign of terror when they meet him in heaven….If they make it! God sure has a sense of humour.

Those who believe they hold exclusive rights to Heaven must be shocked to see that people like us are saved too!

“For the last shall be first, and the first shall be last……”(Matt 20:16)

Everyone has a chance at the cross!……There’s still room for you!

What’s Your Plan B?

Do we really trust God?

Monday Morning Coffee©️

A day before my son Toby was due to start a new job, he got an email from the company HR notifying him he could not start until they had receive one of his references.

Toby spent the whole night trying to contact this referee by phone, email, and all social media platforms. This very important referee seemed to have just dropped off the planet!

It was a desperate situation and we had no Plan B, so Toby and I woke early the next morning and bombarded heaven with prayers!….The answer was instant! By midday this referee just on a whim decided after several months to go on LinkedIn and the rest is history!

Faith has no Plan B…..If you still have a Plan B, you have no faith!

Good Morning.

Happy Monday people?
If you or your loved ones are ill at this time, I pray the Lord’s healing over your home this morning.

Isaiah 60 talks about a time when the world will be covered by darkness; we are in that time now people! The season where everything that we have held dear is failing and the future is not guaranteed.

If we have been sleepwalking through life then it’s time to wake up and shine! It’s time for us to be the light we were created to be.

In the midst of all the conspiracy theories that abound, are you that lone voice of hope pointing others to the Lord? Are you praying for a harvest of souls and for God’s mercy to prevail over the land?

No matter how dark the sky is, the stars still shine!…. You are one of them! Shine!

Lastly, wake up! Eternity beckons!…Where will you spend it?

Good Morning.
